Primary Services
CD-DA PREMASTERING, CASSETTE MASTERING
Includes aesthetic adjustments to program material, and transfer from mix formats to problem-free, reproducible formats acceptable for manufacture.
CD-DA
Sweetening - Adjustments to the program including level, EQ, dynamics, noise reduction and image enhancement.
Master CD-R Preparation - Requantization, dithering, noise shaping, PQ subcoding and data verification.
All CD-R masters are shipped with printed EDL, PQ subcode and error report.
CASSETTE
Sweetening - Adjustments to the program including level, EQ, dynamics, noise reduction and image enhancement.
Master Preparation - Designated format, dynamic restriction and alignment tones.
All cassette masters are shipped with a printed EDL.
EDITING AND SEQUENCING
Analog - 15 or 30 ips, 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch stereo reproduction
Digital - 24 bit Digital Audio Workstation
CD VERIFICATION
We include comprehensive data and error rate verification of all CD-R masters created by RFI/CD Mastering.
This service is also available on a stand-alone basis. We analyze
- CD-R masters created elsewhere
- manufactured audio CDs
- Orange and Yellow Book discs including CD-ROM, Mixed Mode, CD-ROM/XA, CD-I, CD-R, and Photo CD.
FORMATS
We support the following source formats:
- Analog tape - 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch, 15 or 30 ips
- DAT
- ADAT (Standard or PaqRat)
- Computer Audio Files - External Hard Drive, Flash Memory, FTP Transfers

Special Services
In addition to traditional mastering services, these unique services are also available:
DIGITAL AUDIO ARCHIVING
We archive extended resolution (24 bit) audio data prior to requantization to 16 bit for CD recording. Archiving at this resolution facilitates economical revisions to your CD production master and preserves your data for future releases. We archive the file level data and 24-bit audio to DVD-R.
INTERNET AUDIO FILE MASTERING
We prepare audio files for optimal sound quality in efficient delivery formats. Mastering for the Internet includes sweetening, editing, sequencing, requantization, down-sampling, dithering, noise shaping, file formatting and encoding.
Custom mastering for the Internet controls bandwidth requirements, reduces download times, contributes to glitch-free streaming, and most importantly, creates a dramatic audio improvement for the listener.
AUDIO RESTORATION
We correct audio from your damaged or corrupt original format (see acceptable formats above) and transfer to CD-R, DAT, or any of our archive formats. Other formats are available by special request.
